Hello there! So our very first theme was “tangled things,” brought to us by our friend Alex Bogs. We both really enjoyed working on this one and are excited to show you what we came up with:
Tangled things: Alison
Tangled things: Lisa
Next week’s theme: “at the dinner table,” also provided by Alex. If you are so inclined, make a photo that relates to this theme, and send it to: email@example.com before next Sunday! And/or, if you have a theme you’d like to see us work towards, send that along too!
Welcome to the collaborative project of Alison Tyne & Lisa Barker. We are two Rochester-area photographers with different styles who share a common enthusiasm for the sense of community that art encourages.
We met at Wedgestock, a neighborhood festival, in the summer of 2011. Over the course of a day of chatting at our adjacent booths, we soon realized that not only are we neighbors (we live right across the park from one another!), but we share common passions: photography, community, and the combination thereof. Over several cups of tea, plans for a joint project developed.
We showed our individual bodies of work to many friends and fellow artists, and asked them to suggest themes and phrases of inspiration that they’d like to see us pursue. Drawing on their submissions, we chose a direction for the blog. Each week, we will be picking a theme from those submitted. We then work separately to create images that reflect our own interpretations on that theme.
At the end of each week’s post, we’ll share the theme that we’ll be working on for the following week. As this is a collaboration-driven project, we invite you, the viewer, to submit not only ideas for future themes, but also your own responses to the theme of the week, if you are so inspired!
Thank you for stopping by- enjoy!
